23 die as Boko Haram attacks two states

Gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram have killed 23 people within the last 48 hours.

In what is seen as a resurgence of their attacks on innocent people, the gunmen opened fire on residents of Damboa in Borno State on Monday night, killing 18 people.

A local government official told Reuters yesterday that the attackers targeted local hunters, who sell bush meat from animals, such as monkeys and pigs.

Kano, which has been gripped by tension since the attack on the convoy of the Emir on Saturday, was again thrown into pandemonium yesterday after gunmen shot dead five people playing draught at Dakata in the sprawling city that is the North’s commercial capital. Read more
