The Nigerian bribe takers

Charles Ahmed needed a job; and so in February last year, he was asked to part with N250,000 to secure employment at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. He said that he was able to talk the staff of the para military outfit into collecting N150,000; but by December, he was still unemployed. Nigeria’s first anti-corruption website reports 768,050 naira bribe

Integrity organization, Nigeria’s first anti-corruption ‘reports’ haven, has recorded 20 cases of bribery so far and a sum of 768,050 naira involved, the Business Dispatch learnt. The institution with the support of the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA)  on the 20th of November launched www.egunje.info to track “The Spirit Of Egunje” (bribery) in the country. Corruption reporting website takes off in Nigeria

Egunjedotinfo, a website dedicated to crowd-sourcing trends in bribery and corruption in Nigeria, has been launched. The website was launched in Abuja on Tuesday by the Integrity Organization Nigeria, an anti corruption, research and advocacy organization founded in 1995. The project aims to track, name and shame corrupt individuals and organizations in Nigeria.
