The Federal Government cannot fully implement the Subsidy Reinvestment Programme (SURE) due to shortfall of about N700 billion in the expected revenue from full subsidy removal, Minister of National Planning, Dr. Shamsudeen Usman had said. He spoke saying government is forced to reconsider its priorities after the revenue expected from deregulation of the downstream petroleum sector had dropped from N1.1 trillion to about N426 billion due to failure of full subsidy removal.(view full text)
