Senator Bukar Abba-Ibrahim, on Monday in Abuja, said the inherent injustice in the Petroleum Industry Bill as presented by the Executive had made it impossible for the document to enjoy national support.
While expressing optimism that the PIB would be one of the critical bills to be passed by the Senate in 2013, the former governor of Yobe State said it would not be passed in its current form.
The Senator also said he had no regrets for proposing dialogue as the best option in dealing with the Boko Haram insurgency.
Abba-Ibrahim said, “On the issue of the Petroleum Industry Bill, the powers of the Minister must be reduced.
“We don’t want anybody to talk about additional funds for the so called oil producing communities. I think at this stage, it is unacceptable. Let the money go into the treasury so that every Nigeria benefits from it. Read more
