Survive the Nigerian Business Environment
The Nigerian business environment is described as challenging and, in some cases, downright hostile. How should businesses and organisations navigate the environment to survive and thrive? This is a question we have grappled with over the years whilst encouraging businesses and organisations that Integrity Pays, even in Nigeria. Very often, Regulators care more about revenue generation than about the survival and growth of the entities they supervise.
Customers and clients seem to prefer to work with those who can get the job done quickest, with minimal hassle, and by causing them to win, even if that involves some element of corruption and bending of the rules. The public sees ethical principles as ‘nice-to-have’ and quickly points out that it is not what puts food on the table in Nigeria.
Navigating the environment successfully and ethically often requires a guide. At the Integrity Organisation and the Convention on Business Integrity, we are prepared to be just that.
